Mission Statement
The principal duty of the County Register’s office is to record deeds, mortgages and various other documents. Other documents include plats and restrictions of subdivisions, powers of attorney, military discharges, release of mortgages and various miscellaneous documents. The Register is also responsible for collecting and accounting for fees and taxes due as allowed by law. Our office helps the public to find documents they might need. Everything on file at the register’s office is open to the public. Our records date back to 1836.
